BYE BYE DOLLY

When I was making dolls (over 25 years ago), I occasionally made one for someone else other than myself. Last week I gave away one of mine to a darling little girl named Lenore. I'm not sure exactly what our relationship is. I think it is Grand Niece or something. Anyway, here is a picture of Lenore with the doll. I looked in my albums to see if I had a picture of the doll right after I made it. Sure enough I did, but it wore a different wig. Sometime after the picture was made I changed it to a blond one.

And here is the doll with the dark hair. It was the only other picture I could find of her. She looks kind of faded out in the top picture, but it is just the photography that faded it out.

Doll Pictures

I can't believe it has been almost two years since I've updated this blog. So many things going on in my life that I have not focused on my dolls in quite a while. So today I decided to take some new pictures of a few of them. Here they are.

If you are not familiar with the dolls I've made, I hope you will take time to see previous posts and there are questions and answers in the right sidebar. I had so much fun making these. No more doll making for me. I'll just focus on photography. Thank you for letting me share with you.

And these little guys are in a chair in my doll room. I decided to take a picture of them. Should have straightened them up first, but I just took the picture the way they were.

FAVORITE DOLLS

Hi. I have so neglected my doll blog in recent months. I just looked at it myself today for the first time in quite a while. To activate it just a little I've added a poll at the top of the right sidebar. I'm curious. You know - I think love of dolls is something little girls never really outgrow. Or maybe it's just me. I loved dolls when I was a little girl. Baby dolls were my definite favorite. How I wish I still had that lifesize baby doll I had when I was about 8 years old. I well remember buying real baby clothes for it at the Goodwill, dressing it, and pushing it in a doll stroller down the road in Norwalk, California that was "out in the country at the time". It was just a country road. Now it is a residential neighborhood and I would never recognize it if it were not for the name of the street. We lived at the corner of Studebaker and Leffingwell Rd. There was one house there on the corner - the one we lived in and a dairy across the street. There were no other houses close by.

Thanks for bearing with me this morning as I do a little reminiscing. Now - back to the poll. I hope you will vote (you can vote for more than one) and leave a comment. Perhaps you would like to comment on your favorite doll.

FINALLY A NEW POST

I can't believe it has been over a year (August 22, 2009) since I did the post telling about the book I had published. It was a book about our travels but I had some extra pages so I put a few pages with pictures of my dolls in the back of the book. The book is on our coffee table now. I enjoy browsing through it occasionally and reliving some of our trips to other countries. OK, so now I decided to show you the rest of the doll pages of that book. Here they are.

OK, I know most of these dolls are in the header but this is how they look in the book.
Thank you for your interest - and my dollies thank you too.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

When I was about 9 years old our tap dancing class was in a recital. We danced to Irish Washerwoman. Here is a picture of our group. I'm third from the left. I wish the photo was in color. Our skirts were bright green sparkly fabric.

MY DOLLS AT CHRISTMAS

Many years before I started making porcelain dolls or even thought about doing such a thing, I made this rag doll for my daughter for Christmas one year. She named the doll Mary. She has kept Mary all these years.

Not long after I made this doll Christmas was approaching so I decided to make her a Christmas outfit. That was when I decorated with green and red at Christmas time.

Here's the same doll by our Christmas tree in more recent years. This was probably about 15 years ago.

And here is another little doll I used one year as part of the Christmas theme.

Thank you for visiting my doll blog and letting me share some of my Christmas photos with you.

PAGE IN MY BOOK

I recently composed and had a book published online. The book started out with pictures of our travels to other countries but since I still had some allotted pages to fill I decided to put some pictures of my dolls in the back. This was the introductory page to the "doll section." I'll show some of the other pages later. I hope I don't wait as long as I did since the last post. LOL

A COLLAGE

I'm excited about this new free program that I just downloaded for making collages. It was really easy to do and making the above collage using all the pictures in my doll file only took a couple of minutes. I couldn't believe it. Here is the website if you would like to check it out. I definitely recommend it.
